Note: Her Obituary from The Idaho Statesman, Boise, Idaho -Bonnie LaVere McClellan, 96, passed away on Aug. 28, 2008. Bonnie was born on Feb. 20, 1912 in Boise, Idaho. She was the first of three children born to Ephriam and Lucy (Elliott) Jensen. She is preceded in death by her husband, Verl and her brot her, Dee Jensen. Gwendolyn Jensen Bybee is her surviving sibling. Bonnie began her working career at Boise's local "hot spot", the A & W Root Beer Stand. Her next position was with the Idaho 1st National Bank. She is a member of The Church of Jes us Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through church activities she met Verl Kofford McClellan. On New Years Eve, Dec. 31, 1941, just prior to Verl shipping off to war in the U.S. Navy during WWII, she and Verl eloped and were married in Idaho City. Th eir marriage was sealed in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on Oct. 30, 1944. When Verl came home from the service Bonnie quit her job at the bank to become a home maker and start a family. The couple had two sons, Doran and Brian. Verl suffered a fata l accident and passed away on December 9, 1949. To support her family, Bonnie worked for her brother's construction company and then as a seamstress for a dry cleaning firm. In later years she was employed by Allied Insurance Company. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, genealogy and most of all bragging about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was famous and loved by her descendents for her chocolate cake, cherry pie and hand dipped chocolates at Christmas time. Bon nie is survived by her sister, Gwendolyn (Gwen) Bybee; son, Doran McClellan; daughter-in-law, Joyce McClellan; son, Brian McClellan; daughter-in-law, Bobbi McClellan; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
